From August 12, 2026, all packaging placed on the EU market must meet these key compliance requirements:

• Mandatory recyclability: All packaging must be recyclable, with phased targets — 2030 (≥70% recycled = Grade C) and 2038 (≥80% recycled = Grade B)
• PFAS restrictions: For food-contact packaging — each PFAS < 25 ppb, sum of targeted PFAS < 250 ppb, total PFAS < 50 ppm
• Heavy metal limits: Total lead, cadmium, mercury, and hexavalent chromium ≤ 100 mg/kg
• EPR registration: All packaging must be EPR-registered in the country of sale. Non-EU businesses must appoint an EU Authorized Representative

Non-EU businesses are equally bound — imported and third-country packaging must also meet all these requirements by August 2026
